How do I get a GP referral?

It's easy to get a referral from a GP. Make an appointment with your local doctor and specify your preference of a consultant found on the BMI website.

How do I pay for my Treatment?

There are two main ways to pay for your treatment, private medical insurance or self-pay. Details on these can be found in our Payment Options section 

Can I use my insurance?

In most cases you can use your insurance to pay for your medical treatment, however you should check with your own insurance company directly.

Is all treatment covered by medical insurance?

No, there are quite a lot of elective procedures and treatments that you can pay for yourself, such as cosmetic surgery, obesity surgery and varicose veins treatment.

BMI offers competitive fixed priced packages for these and they can be found by clicking on the relevant image button at the bottom of the page.

How do I make an enquiry to a hospital?

You can use the hospital search facility to find the relevant hospital. The telephone number and address is in the Contact Us section on every page.

Is there any waiting time for surgery?

The scheduled date for surgery will depend on the specific procedure or treatment. In the majority of cases though, the appointment can be undertaken to suit you.

Can I arrange a consultation with a specialist directly?

Yes, for some of the elective and self-pay procedures where a GP referral is not required. Please contact our National Enquiry Centre and they will be happy to advise you.

How do I find a consultant?

You can use the our consultants link on the top navigation to find consultants that operate in our hospitals.

How do I find a treatment?

You can use the treatments link on the top navigation to find treatments and procedures that we undertake in our hospitals.

Is there cosmetic surgery for men?

Yes, the large majority of cosmetic surgery procedures are available to both men and women.

There are of course certain procedures, such as Gynaecomastia (male breast reduction), that are for men only.
