 Mr Fernando provides the oculoplastic, lacrimal and orbital service as part of a team at East Lancashire Hospitals NHS Trust.  He also provides a general ophthalmology service including cataract surgery and glaucoma management.

After graduating from Chennai Medical College, Chennai, India, Mr Fernando completed his Diploma in Ophthalmology at Aravind Eye Hospitals, Madurai, India. He started his senior house training at North Middlesex NHS Hospital London and Manchester Royal Eye Hospital. After completing his registrar rotation at Manchester Royal Eye Hospital he travelled to Brisbane, Australia for a one year Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital Surgery Fellowship.

Mr Fernando completed his training in Manchester with a further one year Fellowship in Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery. He specialises in managing patients with periocular tumours (basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma) and lid malpositions (ptosis, entropion, ectropion). In addition he also manages eyes that water excessively and performs both external and endoscopic lacrimal surgery.

Mr Fernando manages patients with thyroid eye disease and performs orbital decompression for protruding eyes, eyelid surgery for eyelid retraction and orbital fat prolapse. He manages patients with eye socket problems.

Mr Fernando also undertakes non-surgical cosmetic treatments including facial anti-wrinkle injections and dermal filler injections. He provides small incision, sutureless cataract extraction with intraocular lens implantation and also manages patients with glaucoma.
