Mr Kenan Deniz has a full general neurosurgical, including cranial and spinal practice. He commenced specialist Neurosurgical training on the North Thames training scheme in 2005, following a training placement at Charing Cross Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery.

Before his appointment as a Consultant Neurosurgeon in Leeds, he completed a skull base/endoscopic pituitary fellowship at the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and a Neurovascular fellowship at King’s College Hospital.

Mr Deniz has a comprehensive general spinal practice at the Duchy Hospital which mirrors his busy NHS Neurosurgical practice at Leeds General Infirmary where he is also Lead Clinician for Neurosurgery.

He treats a wide range of spinal conditions including sciatica, back pain, neck pain and arm pain related to the spine. He treats cervical and lumbar disc prolapses, cervical and lumbar stenosis from degenerative disease and resulting in spinal cord or nerve root entrapment / compression. He performs the full range of anterior and posterior cervical decompressions, anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF), lumbar laminectomy and lumbar microdiscectomy.

He believes in good, clear communication with patients to aid shared decision-making and discusses with his patients at a spinal MDT meeting to ensure good practice and sound decision-making. He submits his operative data to the British Spine Registry to ensure transparency.

He also consults privately for complex skull base and neurovascular conditions, including microvascular decompression for trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm, acoustic neuroma and other skull base tumours, meningioma, cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations (AVMs), cavernomata and other vascular conditions of a surgical nature affecting the brain and spine.
