Ms Lisa Harris is a Consultant Speech, language and cognitive therapist and Neuro-rehabilitation specialist.

Lisa trained at City University, and began a career specialising in Neuro-rehabilitation at St George’s and Atkinson Morley’s Hospital, London. She has been Head of dept for two neuro-rehabilitation Units, Unsted Park and The Brain Injury Centre, Banstead and a  Post graduate Clinical Tutor at the City University. She founded an independent practice in 2004 specialising in the treatment of neurological communication disorders based in Guildford.

Lisa is experienced in the assessment and intervention required during brain surgery known as awake craniotomy for the removal of brain tumours, and provides a service to the London Neurosurgery Partnership when needed. She is a specialist advisor to the Stroke Association for Aphasia.

Lisa is a specialist in the assessment and treatment of all speech, language, cognitive and swallowing difficulties resulting from neurological disease and trauma.

Conditions that may lead to these include:

  • Stroke
  • Brain Tumour
  • Head Injury
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Motor neuron
  • Alzheimer’s disease. 

Lisa has a special interest and is a Specialist in:

  • The treatment of Aphasia: a difficulty in understanding and producing language as a result of a brain injury.
  • Cognitive communication Disorder: communication disorders caused by a cognitive deficit, affecting memory, attention, problem solving, orientation, and general thinking and social skills.
  • Dysarthria: a motor speech disorder characterised by poor articulation.
