Mr Parkash Ramchandani is an oral and maxillofacial / head and neck surgeon specialising inresection and reconstruction of head and neckcancer; facial skin cancer;facial deformity;TMJ (jaw joint) disease including minimally invasive arthrocentesis and arthroscopy as well as open operations on the jaw joint including TMJ arthroplasty and replacement;maxillofacialtrauma;salivary gland disease;orofacial pain;cosmetic surgery;and dentoalveolar surgery includingwisdom teeth, difficult extractions and dentaland craniofacial implants. He is also interested in oral medicine which includes conditions such as mouth infections, mouth ulcers and red and white patches and blistering conditions of the lining of the mouth.

After qualifying in dentistry from Liverpool University in 1990 and obtaining FDSRCS (England),
Parkash studied medicine in St Andrews / Manchester University, obtaining a degree with honours 1997. He did basic surgical training in Manchester and after passing FRCS, he moved to the South Coast for his higher surgical training in 2000. He trained in Chichester, Portsmouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Poole, Bournemouth and Dorchester and did a cancer fellowship in Beijing before being appointed a consultant in Poole Hospital in 2005.

Parkash is the clinical lead for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Dorset and
former lead for clinical governance in Poole Hospital. He is passionate about teaching and training and is the educational supervisor for 2 registrars and clinical supervisor for 5 SHOs. He is anexaminer for the British and Irish Royal College of Surgeons for theIntercollegiate FRCS (OMFS) and the FFD(OSOM) examinations respectively and has been a trainer for the Advanced Trauma and Life-support Course, which is accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons.

He has presented extensively at national and international meetings, most recently conducting a masterclass in nasal reconstruction as an invited guest at the annual British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery scientific meeting. He has published widely in peer reviewed journals and has written 5 chapters in 4 books on various aspects of head and neck surgery as well as being a section editor for the most recent edition of ‘Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery’, which is a key text for surgeons.

Away from his work Parkash and his wife enjoy
reading, running andlistening to their two teenage sons making music and watching them play cricket, rugby and hockey. Parkash has a private pilots licence and if he ever had any free time he would love to fly light aircraft again.

Mr Ramchandani holds outpatient consultations at BMI The Harbour Hospital every Tuesday, where he will cover
all aspects of Oral & Maxillofacial / Head & Neck Surgery including, resection and reconstruction of mouth cancer and skin cancer including microvascular reconstruction; facial lumps and bumps; facial pain; salivary gland disease; TMJ (jaw joint) disease including arthroscopy and joint replacement; maxillofacial trauma; facial deformity including orthognathic surgery; oral medicine including mouth ulcers, red and white patches, mouth blisters, dry mouth and burning mouth syndrome; craniofacial and dental implants; wisdom teeth, retained roots, apicectomy and jaw cysts; and cosmetic facial surgery.
