Mr Ricardo Mohammed-Ali is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial surgeon based at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals and an Honorary Senior Clinical Lecturer at the University of Sheffield. He specialises in conditions affecting the head and neck. Ricardo is trained in all aspects of oral & maxillofacial surgery and his subspecialist interest is reconstructive facial surgery and dental implantology.
He treats patients with face, jaw and dental deformity secondary to growth abnormalities or trauma. He also treats patients with problems affecting the jaw joints and the salivary glands. He is one of the few maxillofacial surgeons in the United Kingdom trained in minimally invasive endoscopic assisted oral & maxillofacial surgery.
He uses modern three dimensional planning technologies in treating patients and is part of a team that treats complex cranio-maxillofacial trauma and deformities. He is also the surgical lead for the Dental Implant Clinic at the Barnsley General Hospital treating patients requiring dental implants after trauma or cancer surgery.
He uses a combination of techniques such as socket preservation after extraction, bone grafting, modern biomaterials and soft tissue augmentation to provide patients with the best possible outcomes. Ricardo has multiple peer review publications and has several national and international presentations on Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and his main area of research interest is in improving soft and hard tissue healing.
