Having qualified at Leicester University Medical School, Simon took a teaching appointment at Oxford University (dept. of Human Anatomy).
His surgical training was then at Oxford University associated hospitals, integrated with a period of clinical research at his alma mater into vein function for which he was awarded a MD higher degree. Specialist vascular training was completed during his fellowship year in Sydney and a further two years at the Northern Vascular Centre at Newcastle’s Freeman Hospital.
Since 1998, Simon has developed his consultant role by continuing his interest in vein problems together with leading the surgical aspects of stroke prevention surgery locally – achieving world class results in one of the UKs busiest stroke services.
