Personal Profile
Mr Stephen McGillion is a UK Fellowship trained Consultant Orthopaedic Spinal Surgeon based at University Hospital Southampton. His practice involves the medical and surgical management of problems related to the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spine. This includes the degenerate spine, spinal oncology and spinal deformity. In addition, he is experienced in the treatment of spinal trauma and participates on the regional on call rota at Southampton for spinal emergencies.
Stephen received his undergraduate training at St. Bartholomew’s & The Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry during which time he was also awarded an Intercalated Honours degree in Anatomy. He completed his Higher Surgical Training as a Specialist Registrar in the Wessex Deanery. His Fellowship training in advanced spinal techniques took place in Oxford at The John Radcliffe Hospital and Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre. Stephen has a considered approach to the management of spinal pathology and utilises multidisciplinary working with appropriate surgical intervention where indicated.
