Mr Steven Richardson graduated from Charing Cross and Westminster Medical School, London in 1997. His initial training continued in London before moving back to his home town of Manchester in 2001. He rotated through surgical training in the North west, and developed a keen interest in the treatment of diseases of the cardiovascular system.
He trained extensively in cardiothoracic and transplant surgery, working as a Research Fellow at The Transplant Centre in Wythenshawe Hospital where he discovered a new technique for diagnosing rejection in heart transplant recipients.
He was awarded the higher degree of MD for this work. He then focused his training in the field of Vascular surgery, working at Manchester Royal Infirmary, and Wythenshawe Hospital as a senior trainee, before expanding his experience further by embarking on an endovascular Fellowship in Queensland, Australia.
On his return to Manchester, he was appointed as Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon at The University Hospital of South Manchester. He has a keen interest in Research and Education and holds the post of Honary Senior Lecturer in Surgical Practice at the Manchester School of Health Sciences.
