Mr Sunny Deo has been the senior specialist knee surgeon in Swindon for over a decade.
His principle subspecialty within the field of orthopaedics is knee surgery, and he undertakes a comprehensive range of soft tissue, arthroscopic and replacement surgery. He has a specific interest in sports injuries, partial and revision replacement surgery.
Mr Deo is a highly experienced traumatologist and experienced in the treatment of multiple injuries, complex lower limb surgery and peri-articular and some acetabular fractures. He has undertaken numerous research projects. His current research interest is clinical complexity and its relation to diagnosis and outcome.
He was born and educated in London, before going on to Medical School in Birmingham, where he started his career. This was followed by further training periods in Worcester, Oxford, Cape Town and Vancouver. He now has a large established NHS practice and is based at the Great Western Hospital, Swindon.
Mr Deo is now offering Bespoke knee replacements. This procedure uses equipment that has been specifically designed for the patient receiving the new knee. The patient will have an MRI scan that enables a 3D model of the knee to be created. Using this model, unique cutting guides are produced, ensuring the knee replacement is inserted as accurately as possible, reducing surgery and recovery time for the patient.
