Dialysis and renal services

At The London Independent Hospital, we offer private Dialysis and Renal Services to patients based in Enfield, Highgate and Bromley.

At The London Independent Hospital, we offer private Dialysis and Renal Services to patients based in Enfield, Highgate and Bromley.

We are home to highly trained and qualified hospital teams in theatre, ITU, pharmacy and the ward work with consultant nephrologists, general physicians, transplant surgeons and renal medicine specialists to provide a multi-disciplinary team approach to renal and kidney care.

Our dedicated dialysis service is open to local private patients, patients from abroad and those visiting London on holiday or business. Our specialist Surgeons and Nephrologists can provide both the dialysis access surgery and the dialysis sessions themselves.

The team at the London Independent Hospital are highly qualified and experienced, and offer kidney transplantation, including HLA and ABO-incompatible transplants, that completes our comprehensive range of renal and kidney services.

Our strength is multidisciplinary working with colleagues in ITU, Cardiology, Urology, Haematology and Neurology to address complex multi-system disorders.

Private Dialysis and Renal Services offered in East London

As well as the transplant, Therapeutic Plasma Exchange and holiday dialysis services, we also provide:

  • Dialysis
  • Access surgery
  • Transplantation
  • Peritoneal Dialysis Catheter insertion

Renal (kidney) transplant

We provide live related and unrelated kidney transplantation to patients who are on dialysis or approaching a severe stage of chronic kidney disease.

In 2016, we launched Plasma Exchange treatment at the hospital – which increases the opportunities for patients to have a successful transplant. This treatment is currently only available in a few specialist NHS hospitals, and was the first in a private hospital setting.

Our multi-disciplinary team comprises of specialist transplant surgeons and nephrologists, a highly trained and qualified theatre & ITU team, a transfusion lab, our Pharmacy department and our trained nursing staff and the RMOs (Resident Medical Officer).

In addition, our transplant services are supported by our cardiology, vascular and imaging services. This helps ensure that the relevant clinical specialists are able to assist quickly and easily should they need to.

Dialysis while on holiday in London

The London Independent hospital offers a holiday dialysis (haemodialysis and peritoneal) service for patients who are visiting London and the surrounding areas.

If you need dialysis and will be visiting London, we can ensure your trip is disrupted as little as possible by providing the quality renal care that you need. Our highly trained nurses provide holiday dialysis in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere, and the service is overseen by our consultant nephrologists.

Located close to the City of London, East London and Canary Wharf - and within easy access of Essex and the Home Counties via Tube, bus and car – we offer a convenient and easy access service for patients.

We have specialist dialysis equipment on site, including Body Composition Monitor and Blood Volume Monitors, high-flux Haemodialysis and Haemodialfiltration.

We are able to provide flexible daily dialysis sessions, with 24-hour nursing and consultant cover (on call) for acute emergencies.

We provide dialysis between 08.00-20.00 hours, but alternative times can be arranged.
