Hand & wrist surgery

Expert care for hand & wrist concerns

If you’re battling hand and wrist pain, we’re here to help. You don’t have to live in pain.

Our  leading  Orthopaedic  Consultants  will  build  a  treatment  plan  to meet your needs, relieving pain and restoring movement and function in your hand and wrist.

People come to us with a wide range of problems, the most common of which are:

  • Arthritis  or  osteoarthritis  (particularly  at  the  base  of  the thumb);
  • Carpal  Tunnel  Syndrome  (causing tingling,  numbness  and other symptoms in the hand and arm);
  • Tendonitis or Intersection Syndrome (pain and swelling in the wrist);
  • Trigger  finger  (difficulty  bending  the  affected  finger  or thumb);
  • De  Quervain’s  syndrome  (pain,  particularly  when  you  to make a fist, turn your wrist or hold anything), and
  • Ulnar  nerve  entrapment  (leading  to  aching,  numbness,  pins and needles, weakened grip and difficulty moving fingers).

We  have  an  expert  team  on  site  to  support  your  treatment  plan, including  Physiotherapists,  Hand  Therapists,  Sports  and  Exercise Consultants,  Neurologists  and  more,  to  ensure  you  a  fast  and comfortable recovery.

If  you  are  coming  to  us directly  (rather  than  via  GP  or  insurance referral), we offer competitively priced self-pay packages, along with payment plan options to help you spread  the cost of your treatment over a time that suits you.

When you visit our Consultants, you will have immediate access to leading specialists and cutting-edge diagnostic equipment.

This  ensures  you  receive  the  treatment  that  is  most  appropriate  in your  circumstances.  There  are  a  wide range  of  possible  treatments that your Consultant will consider, including:

  • Therapeutic: this includes changes to your exercise  regimes and rehabilitation through physiotherapy and hand therapy;
  • Medical: painkillers and injections (steroid and platelet rich plasma (PRP), and
  • Surgical: we  use  the  latest,  minimally  invasive  surgical techniques when it is required

If  your  complaint  is  a  complex  one,  you  will  benefit  from  our multidisciplinary  approach,  where  our  specialists  meet  to  discuss more challenging cases, leveraging a wide range of skills, approaches and  viewpoints  to  ensure  you  are  treated  as  quickly,  safely,  and effectively as possible.

We put our people at the heart of everything we do. From the first moment you come to us, to the moment you are discharged, we make the process as fast, comfortable and reassuring as possible for you.

While there is no ‘typical’ patient we see, you can expect to go through these steps:

STEP1: Referral

We accept patients via referrals from GPs or health insurance providers, as well as private patients who simply book a consultation directly.

We aim to arrange a private consultation for you within as little as 48 hours from referral or first contact, at a time that is convenient for you.

STEP 2: Consultation

You will meet a Specialist at our welcoming hospital for a 20-30 minute consultation to discuss your specific circumstances and needs. This gives us enough time to understand your concerns and medical history, which will help us ensure you receive the correct diagnosis.

Your Specialist will discuss the problem, how long it has been going on, and the impact it is having on your daily life, as well as your recovery goals and a host of other aspects.

They will then conduct a thorough examination and are likely to request a scan (MRI, X-ray, or ultrasound) so they can confirm a diagnosis.

Unless your problem is trauma-related (which will be dealt with immediately), you will have a follow-up consultation within a few days to discuss a treatment plan.

STEP 3: Treatment and after-care

All the team and facilities you will need are available onsite. Medical treatment can be obtained at our on-site pharmacy, while our expert
Physiotherapy and Hand Therapists will be standing by to begin any rehabilitation needed.

If surgery is necessary, we aim to book this for around two weeks after your diagnosis and all procedures are followed by physiotherapy, as well as further consultations with your Specialist to monitor your recovery.

Quality:

  • Your consultation will only ever be carried out by a Consultant who is a specialist and leader in their field, ensuring you experience the most appropriate treatment plan using state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment;
  • The Consultants will also have particular ‘special interests’, which means you can pick one that has expertise in the condition that you experience;
  • A vast range of expertise willbe at your fingertips, with Consultants who work together within and across specialties, meaning you will receive consistently tailored care;
  • Our Specialists are regularly assessedto ensure they are up-to-date with the latest developments in their fields. These assessments ensure that Consultants continue to perform successful procedures and provide excellent patient care;
  • Our hospital is state-of-the-art. On-site are:
