The diagnostic imaging department at The Ridgeway Hospital offers fast access to investigations for patients that live in Swindon and the surrounding areas. We offer the following services within the department, which is staffed with clinical professionals who support our team of vastly experienced radiologists and radiographers.
General x-rays
The department uses Digital X-ray equipment which can perform a wide range of X-rays, including Long Leg measurements and whole spine.
MRI scanning
We have a newly renovated imaging department which boasts a Philips Ingenia 1.5T MRI scanner. The scanner significantly expands the range of diagnostic services available at the hospital. MRI Scanners are powerful magnetic scanners capable of producing high quality images in 20-40 minutes (depending on which part of the body is being scanned).
The MRI Radiographers pride themselves on providing a relaxing, friendly environment for their patients. The dedicated team have helpful methods to support individuals to complete their scans, especially if they suffer from anxiety/claustrophobia. The scan room is equipped with mood lighting, adjustable ventilation and Internet Radio is available for patients to listen to whilst having their scans.
The team are always happy to show patients the MRI scanner and talk through the scanning process to alleviate any anxiety prior to booking an appointment. Please mention to our bookings team if you would like to attend for a visit before your scan.
The service runs Mon-Fri with evening slots available.
Mobile CT scanning
Our Mobile CT scanner is part of the Circle Health Group owned Fleet of Mobile Imaging Equipment. The service is available three days a week offering a wide range of examinations. This equipment provides patients with a faster scan and a lower dose of radiation, leading to a safer and far more comfortable experience overall.
Ultrasound
The Ridgeway Hospital offers an Ultrasound Suite, with scans carried out by Consultant Radiologists. Our Ultrasound services include Gynae, Abdominal, Vascular, Breast and Musculoskeletal. We can accept referrals from GP Surgeries as well as NHS referrals.
Please note – we do not offer obstetric services.
Fluoroscopy screening and interventional procedures
We provide fluoroscopy screening which uses x-rays to obtain images of the required body part. Our team of dedicated Interventional Radiologists are supported by Interventional Nurses and Radiographers, providing you with a fully integrated service throughout your treatment.
