Cosmetic and plastic surgery in Manchester

We offer a wide range of private cosmetic procedures, both invasive and non-invasive

Any physical changes, whether present from birth or resulting from pregnancy, significant weight loss, ageing or trauma, can often have a surprisingly powerful effect on self-esteem, confidence and enjoyment of life.

Diet and exercise may help to change the shape and appearance of your body, but there are limits to what can be achieved with these options. Many people may choose to wear certain clothes or to use make-up to cover up the part(s) of their body they are unhappy with, but this is only ever a temporary solution.

If you are unhappy with the appearance of any part of your body, plastic and cosmetic surgery can help you to look and feel better once more.

Plastic surgery (also known as reconstructive surgery) is a broad speciality focused on improving appearance and function in tissue that has been damaged by a congenital defect, trauma, disease or burns.

Both surgical and non-surgical treatments can be used in different and complementing ways to enhance a particular aspect of your natural appearance that you are not happy with.

At The Alexandra Hospital, our highly experienced Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons would be delighted to meet with you to discuss the options available to you for your particular requirements.

As the largest private hospital in the country outside London, we cover the spectrum of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery.

  • Breast reduction
  • Breast enlargement (augmentation)
  • Breast uplift (mastopexy)
  • Breast Reconstruction
  • Revision breast surgery
  •  Male breast surgery for Gynecomastia (‘Man boobs’)
  • Nipple and areola reconstruction
  • Soft tissue surgery, including skin flaps and tissue expansion
  • Scar revision – to improve the appearance of a scar from a previous injury, surgery, piercing or disease
  • Removal of skin cancers
  • Tummy tuck (abdominoplasty)
  • Lower body lift (belt lipectomy)
  • Arm lift (brachioplasty)
  • Thigh lift

Your first consultation will usually last between 30 - 45 minutes, depending on your particular needs. Whether you have already decided exactly what you want or you have a vague idea but aren’t really exactly sure about your ‘what’ and your ‘why’, this consultation is the perfect time to explore possible treatment options in a safe, relaxed atmosphere.

Your consultant will talk you through any suitable treatment options, making sure you have the information you need to make an informed decision about whether to have surgery. They will often be able to show you pre- and post-op photos of people who have previously had the same procedure, so that you can get an idea of the results you could see.

Everybody is different, and these ‘before and after’ photos should only ever be seen as a general guide of what is possible. It is important to be realistic about what can and cannot be achieved with surgery, and your consultant will help give you a good idea of this during your time with them.

Before going ahead with any surgery, it is important you have time to consider all the options available to you. For this reason, we can arrange a second appointment for you. At this second appointment, your consultant will talk with you again about the procedure, exploring expected results as well as any risks of possible complications you need to be aware of.

At The Alexandra Hospital, you will always see the same consultant, and they will be the one who carries out your surgery. This ensures excellent continuity of care at every stage of your treatment.

Unlike many other medical specialities, most people will not need any imaging or diagnostic scans. However, sometimes this may be necessary; for example, if you are experiencing a problem from a previous breast implant, we may need to arrange a scan to determine the extent of the problem before treatment can be planned.

Our comprehensive imaging facilities include X-ray, CT, MRI and ultrasound, so we can arrange any of these for you if required.

As the largest private hospital in the country outside London, we believe you will find no better place to come for Plastic and Cosmetic surgery.

People from across Manchester and from further afield visit with us for expert advice and treatment. Some are referred to us by their GP or a consultant in another speciality like Dermatology, while others self-refer. We treat private medical insurance and self-pay patients.
