Male breast reduction (gynaecomastia)

Are you a man with overly large breasts? Gynaecomastia surgery involves removing excess breast tissue, fat or skin to reduce the size of the male breast.

What is male chest reduction surgery?

If you have gynaecomastia, more commonly referred to as ‘man boobs’ or ‘moobs’, you’re certainly not alone. Many men have to face up to this problem after dramatic weight loss or simply due to ageing, and chest reduction surgery for men is a simple procedure that removes the excess breast tissue, fat and sagging skin to leave you with a sculpted, more masculine chest.

Why have a chest reduction?

If you are too self-conscious about your chest to take your shirt off in public, then it might be time to consider this simple cosmetic surgery procedure. As appealing as the thought of having a firm sculpted chest again might be, the decision to go ahead with surgery needs careful consideration. We would strongly encourage you to chat through any concerns you might have with one of our consultant surgeons or a member of our team of friendly advisors before you commit to this procedure. These advisors are here to help answer any questions you have, without applying any kind of sales pressure, so that you can be 100% confident with your decision if you do eventually proceed with surgery.

Your chest reduction operation

Your chosen consultant surgeon will make a neat cut under your arm or around your nipple, and then remove excess fat, tissue and skin before applying stitches. Even though the operation is performed under a general anaesthetic, there is a chance you will be allowed to go home the same day, although you may need to spend one night in hospital.

Recovery

You will notice some scarring after the operation, but the good news is that this will fade over time. We recommend you take a week off work to give your body time to make a full recovery, and you should try to avoid any kind of strenuous activity for the first fortnight.

Cost

There’s nothing worse than unexpected charges that you don’t find out about until after the event, and that’s why we make sure you know the full cost of your surgery before you make the decision to proceed. Our inclusive packages cover all the hospital charges for your stay, your consultant’s fees for the operation and one-follow-up consultation.
