What is minimal access thyroid surgery?

It is thyroid surgery performed through a minimal access 2cm neck incision as opposed to the standard 5-10cm incision utilised in other thyroid surgery.

How does minimal access thyroid surgery work?

The operation is no different from any other form of thyroid surgery apart from the significantly reduced incision size. The operation takes about 2-3hrs.
