I graduated in Trinity College Dublin in 1981 where I did my basic surgical training which awoke my interest in Plastic Surgery. I subsequently trained in Addenbrooke’s Hospital Cambridge, St Thomas’ and Guy’s Hospitals London where I was Honorary Lecturer in Plastic Surgery, back to Dublin for a period of 18 months before becoming a Senior Registrar in Salisbury in 1996 where I was appointed a Consultant in 2001. My training in Aesthetic Surgery was particularly in London and Salisbury complimented by visits to Cosmetic Surgery units in Texas and Atlanta in 2000.
Family activities have been the major part of my life outside surgery. All three children are active in sports and I have, on occasion, refereed football matches between local schools. I played rugby all through school and university, as a full back, and was Captain of the second fifteen. The full back on the first team subsequently became an Irish International player. I continue to enjoy watching rugby and occasionally manage to attend International matches. In quieter moments I enjoy a trip to the cinema or theatre or simply reading.
