For women, laser hair removal is a gentle way of removing unwanted hair on areas such as the face, neck, bikini line, underarms, nipples, tummy line, arms and legs. Men may also choose to use this method to remove unwanted hair, for example, on the face, neck, ears, back and chest.

Are there any alternatives?
Electrolysis and waxing are alternatives, but may not be as effective or long-lasting.
What happens during laser hair removal?
Before the procedure your consultant will advise on a suitable treatment plan. The procedure itself takes ten to forty minutes, depending on the area being treated. If you’ve had a fake or deep tan, you’ll need to allow this to fade before treatment.
During the procedure the laser will be passed over the area being treated. Lasers work by killing unwanted hair, and reducing further growth. Low energy settings are used. You may need to have a course of treatments to achieve best results, depending on which area is being treated.

What is the recovery like?
Afterwards your skin should feel silky smooth. A little redness after treatment is normal and will fade. You’ll be able to go home the same day and recovery time is minimal. Remember, you may not be able to drive after the procedure.
Be sure to avoid the sun, saunas or any heat treatments for at least the first day after treatment.
