Michael Irwin is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at Addenbrooke’s NHS Hospital in Cambridge and former Clinical Director of the Department of Plastic Surgery (2003-2010). He is a full member of the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS) and The British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (BAAPS).
He qualified in medicine from St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, London in 1987 and has been privileged to train in busy regional plastic surgery units in Chepstow, East Grinstead and London. He acquired additional expertise in breast reconstruction and plastic surgery of the breast in Atlanta, USA; in breast reconstruction at the Royal Marsden Hospital, London and in aesthetic (cosmetic) surgery at the Wellington Hospital, London.
Mr Irwin was admitted as a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 1991 and became FRCS(Plast) and European Board certified by examination in 1998. A period of full time research culminated in his being awarded the Hunterian Professorship by the Royal College of Surgeons of England. His name was entered on the GMC Specialist Register for Plastic Surgery in 2000.
