Mr Michael Kurer was appointed as a consultant orthopaedic and Shoulder Surgeon to North Middlesex University NHS Trust in 1994. He was born and grew up in Manchester before attending medical school at the University College, London. He started his orthopaedic training at the Royal Free Hospital and became a Senior Registrar at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital.
His interest in shoulders was inspired by working, with Ian Bayley and Paul Calvert. Here Mr Kurer spent a year, as a shoulder research fellow, immediately prior to his consultant appointment. Over the years, as Mr Kurer understands and techniques for treating shoulder problems have developed. He has now diverted almost all of his clinical time and attention to patients with shoulder problems.
